Guests enjoy swimming in the nearby 72°F springs, kayaking and fishing the Suwannee River right from our dock, biking the Nature Coast State Trail, manatee viewing in winter, and exploring small towns like Trenton and Chiefland. The area is a paradise for anyone who loves the outdoors.
What springs are near Suwannee Gables?

Four spring parks are within about 30 minutes: Fanning Springs (roughly 5–10 minutes), Otter Springs (about 15 minutes), Hart Springs (about 20–25 minutes), and Manatee Springs (about 25–30 minutes). All feature clear, 72°F water year-round.
Can I go kayaking at Suwannee Gables?

Yes. We rent kayaks on-site, and you can launch directly from our dock onto the Suwannee River. It's one of the most popular things our guests do, and it's perfect for beginners.
Is the Suwannee River good for fishing?

Yes — the Suwannee offers excellent freshwater fishing for largemouth bass, native Suwannee bass, catfish, and panfish, with saltwater species like redfish and trout toward the Gulf. Guests can fish right from our dock. (A Florida fishing license is required for most anglers 16 and older.)
Can I see manatees near Suwannee Gables?

Yes. From November through April, manatees gather in the warm spring runs nearby — Manatee Springs State Park is one of the best viewing spots in the region during those months.
Is there hiking or biking nearby?

Yes. The Nature Coast State Trail is a 31.7-mile paved rail-trail with a trailhead right in Old Town, featuring a scenic converted railroad bridge over the Suwannee River — great for biking, walking, and jogging.
